Right now it’s flu season. You know you have to let it
run it’s course. A few days, maybe a week and you will
get better if you take care of yourself. But what if it
was a chronic illness. One where there is no cure.
Changes the whole picture does it not? You will now
begin to worry will there ever be a cure? Will I get
better and beat this? What if I can’t…how will I live
the rest of my life? Will I be sick all the time? These
and many questions will destroy you emotionally. What
about my relationship? How will I afford the medications
and treatments? For our guest today she was diagnosed
with systemic lupus at the age of 26. She fought many of
those questions for almost 4 years. That is when she
decided to begin living life instead of fighting it. She
made it her top priority to start living well…even
despite the lupus. The book we will be discussing today
tackles this subject head on. It details the steps she
took to reach that goal. The book is titled, “Despite
Lupus: How To Live Well With A Chronic Illness”. She is
a native Hoosier from Indiana, a graduate of Notre Dame
who now resides in Virginia with her husband, daughters
and her pug dog. Please welcome to Your Life Matters,
Sara Gorman.
